Conservation Agreements

Landowners may leave a legacy for wildlife by arranging a conservation agreement (CA) with Manitoba Habitat Heritage Corporation or among several public and private, not-for-profit organizations as eligible holders of conservation agreements. The landowners continues to have use of their cultivated land to its full agricultural capacity, while protecting the important wildlife habitats permanently by placing a caveat on the property that runs with the land. The CA only identifies the habitats on the property that are to remain protected. The land remains privately owned and can be used for agricultural or other uses, as long as the habitat remains protected.
