All activities, proposed or in progress, involving Crown timber including those of an agricultural or non forestry nature, require the approval of the Forestry and Peatlands Branch. Where cutting, removal or destruction occurs and timber pre-salvage or harvesting is not performed or desirable, such as in the case of a young stand or plantation, a Forest Damage Appraisal and Valuation for calculation of charges will be undertaken by Regional Forestry and Peatlands Branch staff.

All water rights licences contain a clause requiring the proponent to install a meter or timing device on the water source.  Another clause requires records be kept and forward to the Water Use Licensing Section, either upon request or by February 1st of the following year.  Depending on the type of project, records must be kept on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.  The water use report is intended to satisfy these requirements.
