The Manitoba Water Quality Standards, Objectives, and Guidelines are one of a series of management tools developed to protect, maintain, restore and enhance water quality resources and promote wise and efficient management and use of water in the province. The Manitoba Water Quality Standards, Objectives and Guidelines provide recommended limits for chemical constituents and water quality conditions aimed to protect various water uses, including source drinking water, recreation, aquatic life (water, sediment), agriculture (irrigation and livestock), and wildlife/human consumption (through tissue residue). Periodic revisions to the Manitoba Water Quality Standards, Objectives, and Guidelines are necessary for the incorporation of new scientific research and inclusion of emerging issues and concerns applicable to water quality in Manitoba.
