Born in Treherne, MB, Len has called Brandon home since 1962 and has proudly served his community for over 30 years.

While working for the Prairie Mountain Regional Health Authority, Len served on the Provider Advisory Council for Brandon Regional Health Foundation, the Prairie Mountain Health’s Disaster and Emergency Preparedness Council and was Chair of the Prairie Mountain Health Environmental Green Team.

In 2010, Len successfully ran for Brandon City Council. Appointed as Deputy Mayor by his colleagues, he was involved in a number of committee and boards, including the city’s Poverty Committee and the Brandon Police Board.

Over the years, Len has been Board Chair and Campaign Chair with United Way of Brandon & District and currently sits as a Senator with the Royal Canadian Artillery, 26th Field Regiment Senate.

Len works tirelessly as MLA for Brandon East and will bring that same dedication to his new role as Special Envoy for Military Affairs. With the 26th Field Regiment located in Brandon and the Canadian Armed Forces Shilo base just east of Brandon, Len is very aware of the important contributions the Military community makes to this region and to the province of Manitoba.

Len also recognizes the significant issues and stressors facing Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) personnel and their families, particularly during the relocation process. He looks forward to collaborating and working with members of the forces and with all levels of Government to ease the challenges and concerns for our military families as they transition to the province.

The Special Envoy for Military Affairs

We are honoured to have members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) stationed and living in many communities in Manitoba. These regular and reserve force members are among our most outstanding citizens, and we value their service to our province and our nation.

We know that serving in the military can be a challenging and demanding career. Regular forces members can be deployed away from home and family for extended periods, and military families are often relocated throughout Canada.

The Manitoba government has appointed Len Isleifson, Member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba (MLA) for Brandon East, as Special Envoy for Military Affairs to ensure our CAF members and their families feel welcome and appreciated during their postings in our province, and to help them address the unique challenges of military life. The well-being of all military families living in Manitoba is very important to Len, and he will be devoted to supporting them as they serve our province and nation.

The Manitoba government is proud to support CAF families in Manitoba.
