Child Employment

An employment permit known as the Young Workers Readiness Certificate is required for employees who are under 16 years of age. The permit system gives parents/guardians, employers, teachers and the Employment Standards Branch a chance to investigate if the employment will affect the safety, health or well-being of young people before the employment starts.
